There's no shortage of e-signature tools to choose from, and most of them can technically do the same basic thing: get a document signed. The differences that actually matter show up once a business starts asking harder questions. Here are the ones worth asking before committing to a platform.
An e-signature tool that lives completely separately from your CRM or business systems means someone has to manually keep the two in sync. Ask whether the platform integrates directly with the systems your team already uses β or whether it's asking you to add a new island to your workflow.
Per-seat pricing that looks reasonable for five people can get expensive fast at fifty. Ask how a platform's pricing scales as your team or your agreement volume grows, not just what the entry-level plan costs.
Every platform will claim to be secure. Ask specifically: where does the actual signing happen? Is there a verifiable audit trail for every action? Is identity verification part of the core experience or an expensive add-on? The details matter more than the marketing language.
A signature is often the easy part. What happens to the document afterward β is it easy to find six months later? Can it be organized, searched, tracked through renewal? A platform that only handles the moment of signing is solving a smaller problem than the one most businesses actually have.
Every platform β including newer ones β is at some stage of its own roadmap. A vendor who's straightforward about what's built, what's in progress, and what's coming is generally a safer long-term bet than one that implies everything is already finished.
The right platform isn't necessarily the one with the longest feature list β it's the one that fits how your business actually operates, is honest about where it stands, and has a clear direction for where it's headed. That's the standard we're building AcadiaSign to meet.
